Panterix AI Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 3, 2026. Panterix AI (“Panterix,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Panterix mobile application and related services (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Panterix App and services. Panterix is designed to help travelers explore the world using artificial intelligence, visual intelligence, trip planning tools, and social travel features. Protecting your privacy and giving you control over your information is important to us. This policy describes how Panterix handles information. Global Tour Guide AI data sharing is optional and requires separate agreement before the camera feature can be used.1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create a Panterix account, we collect:- Email address
- Password chosen by the user during account creation, processed through our authentication provider
- Nickname, meaning the display name you choose
- Home base, meaning a home location or country you optionally provide
- Profile photo, if you choose to upload one
- Email change history, meaning a record of prior email addresses associated with your account, retained for security purposes
Invite Requests
Access to Panterix may be managed through an invitation system. If you submit a request for an invite, we collect your first and last name, email address, city, state or region, country, and how you heard about Panterix. This information is used solely to review and manage access requests.Biometric Authentication
If you opt in to biometric unlock, your device’s biometric system lets you unlock Panterix while your existing session remains signed in. After you sign out, you must use your password again. Panterix does not collect or store biometric data; biometric verification is handled by your device.Location Information
Panterix uses location data to improve visual identification accuracy. When enabled by you, the App may access your device’s precise GPS location while the App is in use. Location data is used to:- Improve AI identification of monuments and landmarks by narrowing possible matches based on your geographic location
- Provide contextual travel information relevant to your surroundings
Camera and Image Data (Global Tour Guide)
If you choose to use Global Tour Guide, Panterix sends the photo you capture to our server, which transmits it to OpenAI to identify the landmark, monument, or historical site. Precise location accompanies the photo when you allow location access. You may also use your camera or photo library separately to add a profile photo. A history of your identifications is stored locally on your device. You control how long this history is kept through an in-app retention setting, and it is not uploaded to Panterix servers.AI and Prompt Data
Panterix uses artificial intelligence to provide travel assistance, including monument and landmark identification. When you interact with AI features, the following may be processed:- Image inputs

Travel and Trip Information
Panterix allows you to store and manage travel information. This may include:- Trip destinations, including city and country
- Trip start and end dates
- Trip type, for example: Leisure, Business, Family Visit, or Event
- Tentative trip status
- Comments and suggestions from your connections
- Country notes
Country Counter
The Country Counter feature lets you manually track the countries and places you have visited. This list is stored with your account on Panterix servers so it is kept if you sign out, reinstall, or change devices. A copy is also kept on your device for fast loading and offline use, and it is synchronized with your account when you are online. It is visible only to you.Social Features and Shared Information
Panterix includes social travel features that allow you to connect with other users. Depending on your privacy settings, you may choose to share:- Upcoming trips
- Travel destinations
- Comments and suggestions
- Notifications about overlapping travel plans
Content Reports
If you report content or another user, we collect the report details, including the reported content, the reason for the report, and your account identifier, so that our moderation team can review the report.2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:- Provide and operate the Panterix App
- Enable AI identification of landmarks and monuments
- Store and manage your travel information
- Enable connections and social travel features
- Send optional notifications you request
- Review content reports and enforce our community rules
- Improve the performance and reliability of the App
- Maintain security and prevent abuse
3. Notifications
Panterix may show notifications if you choose to enable them, such as alerts when you and a connection have overlapping travel plans. These notifications are generated locally on your device. Notifications may be disabled at any time through your device settings.4. Data Storage and Security
Cloud Storage
Panterix uses Supabase as its backend infrastructure. Data stored in the cloud includes your account profile, trips, private trip notes, comments, connections, audience settings, Country Counter list, country notes, email change history, blocked-user records, invite requests, and privacy settings. Profile photos are stored in private Supabase cloud storage and are shown only to signed-in Panterix users.Local Storage
Certain information is stored locally on your device, including your identification history, a copy of your Country Counter list, feature preferences, and session credentials. Session tokens are stored in your device’s secure storage to protect your login credentials.Security Practices
User data is protected using industry-standard security practices including:- AES-256 encryption for stored data
- TLS encryption for data transmitted over the internet
- Secure authentication systems
5. Data Sharing
Panterix does not sell or rent personal information. Your information may be processed by service providers that support operation of the App, including:- Supabase, for cloud database, authentication, file storage, and backend infrastructure
- OpenAI, for AI-powered landmark and monument identification, where photos and precise GPS coordinates (if you allow location access) are processed
- Postmark, for delivery of account verification emails and content-report notifications to our moderation team
6. Advertising and Featured Listings
The current version of Panterix does not include advertising. Future versions of the App may include featured travel listings, sponsored recommendations, or special offers from businesses. If advertising features are introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly. Panterix does not use cross-app tracking for advertising purposes.7. User Privacy Controls
Panterix provides privacy controls allowing you to manage:- Who can see your trips and individual trip fields, such as dates and trip type
- Which connections and audiences can view and comment on your travel information
- Connection categories and audience assignments
- How long your identification history is kept on your device
- Notification preferences
- Location access, via device settings
- Camera access, via device settings
8. Your Rights and Choices
You have control over how your information is used in Panterix. You may:- Access and update your account information through the App
- Manage privacy settings controlling visibility of your travel activity
- Enable or disable location access through your device settings
- Enable or disable camera access through your device settings
- Enable or disable notifications through your device settings
- Block or report other users through the App
